Method

I used only google flights in finding my tickets. I really enjoy how fast and smooth the site works. Other sites can get clunky and cluttered with ads or memberships. I heard that AirTreks and AroundtheWorldFlights are good sites as well. Greyhound is the bus service I chose.

Influence of Travel Dates, Places Visited

I looked at flights from March 20th to August 1st. Ticket prices were cheap, then they got gradually more expensive in May towards June. Coronavirus may have something to do with this. The beginning of travelling season in May and June may have something to do with this.

Date of flight Monday April 27th, 2020.

Los Angeles, CA to Hong Kong.

Liftoff 12:50am, touchdown 12:20pm.

Flight cost $351.

Visa fee $160.

Comment: This was one of the more expensive tickets as it covers a large distance compared to the rest. This was still the cheapest ticket in the April to May window. Taking a bus to Los Angeles from Omaha really helped save on the flight to Hong Kong.

Los Angeles to Hong Kong.

Date of flight Monday May 4th, 2020.

Hong Kong to Sydney.

Liftoff 9:50pm, touchdown 11:20am.

Flight cost $209.

Visa fee $160.

Comment: The ticket to Sydney was one of the cheaper flights as it covers a relatively small amount of land. Making sure to click a one-way ticket option helps cut down on prices, as you are not paying for the trip back.

Hong Kong to Sydney.

Date of flight Monday May 11th, 2020.

Sydney to New Delhi.

Liftoff 10:10pm, touchdown 11:50am.

Flight cost $284.

Visa fee $160.

Comment: Flying to New Delhi from Sydney cost more than I wanted to because flights were starting to pick up in price. The beginning of summer is a typical travelling season for people making prices slightly higher than anticipated.

Omaha to Los Angelese bus ticket.

Date of flight Monday May 18th, 2020.

New Delhi to Frankfurt.

Liftoff 3:05am, touchdown 5:20pm.

Flight cost $266.

Visa fee $160.

Comment: The flight from New Delhi to Frankfurt was much cheaper than going to Berlin or Warsaw. At $266 the ticket to Frankfurt from New Delhi was considered a good deal to google flights. This ticket is in the medium price range of the tickets I found

Omaha to Los Angelese bus ticket.

Date of flight Monday May 25th, 2020.

Frankfurt to Tenerife.

Liftoff 11:40am, touchdown 3:25pm.

Flight cost $119.

Visa fee $160.

Comment: I had not heard of Tenerife before finding this ticket. Tenerife is a small Spanish owned island off the coast of northern Africa. The island is extremely beautiful. The island of Tenerife also holds the lowest ticket price out of all the ones I found at $119.

Omaha to Los Angelese bus ticket.

Date of flight Monday June 1st, 2020.

Tenerife to Sao Paulo.

Liftoff 5:55pm, touchdown 5:20am.

Flight cost $305.

Visa fee $160.

Comment: Much like the flight from Los Angeles to Hong Kong this is one of the more expensive flights, as crossing the ocean is not easy nor cheap. For flying from a small island off the coast of Africa the $305 ticket is not incredibly bad.

Omaha to Los Angelese bus ticket.

Date of flight Monday June 8th, 2020.

Sao Paulo to Los Angeles.

Liftoff 10:20pm, touchdown 6:45am.

Flight cost $288.

Visa fee $160.

Bus fee back to Omaha

Comment: Initially I had my return flight from Sao Paulo scheduled to land in Omaha, but I felt the $651 price tag would send someone into a posting rampage on the class announcements. The ticket to Los Angeles and bus ride back to Omaha is half the price of flying directly to Omaha from Sao Paulo.

Omaha to Los Angelese bus ticket.

Sum $2,759.

An Idiot Abroad

The story about the toad was about getting out more and how it can help you. The world can also be dangerous. It was worth the 40 plus minutes of noneducational culturally insensitive humor. The lodging in the India episode highlighted a circular bed, neat. The man that held his arm up permanently for his spirituality was more interesting.

DISSCUSSION OF THE WEEK

I guess these are mandatory, but I cannot see your sites! My question is do you think the coronavirus is harming tourism? And why? I think the virus is hurting travelling. I wonder if it is going to have a prolonged influence on how people travel. The virus could also be a sign of a lot of tourism, as that is how it is transferred amongst countries, people moving among countries. All in all , best of wishes.
